Kathy Plank has been working as a Fine Artist for over 20 years. After completing a successful foundation at Epson School of Art, she continued her studies at Liverpool John Moores University where she obtained a BA Honors Degree in Fine Art.

Kathy largely works in oil on canvas and her work is inspired by the power of the sea and nature as a whole. Whilst a student, Kathy developed a passion for the work of the Impressionist and Abstract Expressionist Artists. She works to combine the ever changing beauty of the natural world with an energy of expression to depict a spirit of nature.
"It is far better to capture the glorious spirit of the sea than to paint all of it's tiny ripples." - Jay Meuser

Kathy has recently used lighthouses for inspiration. They provide a tangiblef force in an abstract expression of sea and skyscape. They are also a powerful metaphoe to represent resistance, strength and guidance.

The work represents Kathy's constant striving to show the light of nature through colour.

"In nature, light creates the colour, In the picture, colour creates the light." - Hans Hoffman

As a practising artist, Kathy has been represented by local, national and international galleries and has work privately owned in the UK and overseas.
